Nigeria at a Critical Juncture, Next Task is to Consolidate Reforms, Says Oyedele on assumption of office.

Tne new Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, has formally assumed office following a handover from his predecessor, Mr. Wale Edun.

“I sincerely appreciate him for his service to our country and the foundation he has laid”, he stated.

“Nigeria is at a critical juncture. Having taken important steps to stabilise the economy, our immediate task is to consolidate these gains, deepen ongoing reforms, and ensure they translate into tangible benefits for all Nigerians”.

According to him, his strategic priorities include:

๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ & ๐†๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ก – creating a predictable and investor-friendly environment anchored on policy coherence, consistency, and clarity.

๐…๐ข๐ฌ๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฌ๐œ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž & ๐’๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ข๐ง๐š๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ – ensuring transparent and prudent management of public resources.

๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐ฎ๐ž ๐Ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง & ๐…๐š๐ข๐ซ ๐“๐š๐ฑ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง – harmonising revenue administration, broadening the tax base, reducing the burden on vulnerable population, and supporting economic growth.

๐’๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ซ ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐‚๐จ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง – aligning efforts across all tiers and institutions to maximise policy impact.

๐๐ฎ๐›๐ฅ๐ข๐œ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐ฒ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ (๐๐๐๐) – deepening collaboration with the private sector and other key stakeholders for data-driven policy design, co-implementation, and feedback for continuous improvement.

Mr Taiwo Oyedele said that, “Good policy design alone is not enough, success will be defined by execution. We are committed to disciplined implementation, accountability, and measurable results.

“I look forward to working with colleagues across government, the private sector, and all Nigerians as we move from reform to result, accelerate growth and build a more stable, inclusive, and prosperous economy”, Oyedele concluded.
