NSCDC Arrests 16 For Hoarding of PMS In Plateau

Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Plateau State,  Mr Solomon Olasupo has ordered the arrest 16  persons found to be engaged in the illegal selling of petrol.

The illegal diversion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) ,leading to scarcity of supply to the state capital and its environs has made the state government to issued matching orders to Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to “commence the exercise of fishing out and dealing with the saboteurs”

NSCDC boss who disclosed this to journalists after going round some petrol filling stations across Jos , Bukuru to assess the level of fuel scarcity created by hoarders warned “those who are in the habit of hoarding the PMS to distance themselves from the exercise or face our team of patrol men that are keeping surveillance .

According to him, about 15,000 jerricans with PMS was incepted during the raid which was distributed  to commercial motor cycle  riders to reduce suffering commuters occasioned by difficulty in getting transportation in the state.

Olasupo advised all the filling stations to revert to the pump price of 145 per litre as against the current illegal selling price of N200 per litre .

He maintained that many of those selling above the pump price have been forced to sell on normal price which commence yesterday, adding that the operations will continue until sanity prevails.
