The 360 members of the House of Representatives were merciless in their choice of Speaker when they gave a condescending 3 votes each to Deputy Speaker in the outgoing House, Idris Wase and another contestant, Sani Jaji, leaving the party’s s anointed candidate Tajudeen Abbas the overwhelming votes, of 347.
Abbas represents Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna in the House of Representatives.
The taste of what to come emerged on Monday when major contestants like Umaru Batera from Borno stepped down for Abbas opening the road to his landslide victory in an “openly declare” ballot system election on Tuesday.
