The Central Youth Council comprising Kabong Central Youth Forum and Angwan Soya Jenta Adamu have presented a petition to the member representing Jos North-west constituency to taking to the floor of the House of Representatives over incessant loss of lives properties caused by accidents from heavy trucks operating at polo round in Jos, the Plateau state capital
In the presented to the Member, Hon Mrs Esther Dusu, signed by Theophilus Kadiri ,Vice Chairman CYC Jenta Adamu ward ,Comrade Sylvalnus Boniface ,Kabong youth ,Bala Emmanuel Ajik,Elder Haruna Adiwu Atunkara and Pam Emmanuel Jama ,Nanya during the protest on Monday in Jos, the youths said the entire committee members were protesting against the high rate at which heavy trucks have been killing their people along polo round about and its environ .
They said; “we are calling on Rt ,Hon Speaker ,Ayuba Abok Azi to see the negative effects of destruction of lives and properties of our citizens are enormous ;many innocent victims have gone to the beyond due to recklessness of such users so as a result, we the central youth council of Jenta Adamu ward communities of Jos North LGA ,however, today have agreed to embark on a peaceful protest to press for government intervention “.
Nanya Silas said; “The lives many youth are cut short by heavy trucks drivers so we are calling on government to enact law that can restrict their movement in the day time until 12 pm to avoid road accident .
“Among those that had died from accidents are a Church member and a nursing mother, Government should create alternative roads to regulate or introduce tollgate and make terminal area to reduce death rate .
