A philanthropist, Abubakar Kabiru Garba Mai Akwala has given out scholarship to twenty (20) pupils and student in the state.
The recipients comprise who are 3 females and 17 males in primaries and secondary schools across the state would enjoy the scholarships last till their final year in school.
Hon Garba in his speech, enjoined well meaning Nigerians to be their brothers keeper by sponsoring children of the less privileged in the society so as to promote peaceful co-existence.
He said as a businessman he has observed the high rates of school dropouts, which is on the increase in Jos North Local Government Council and has decided to offer support in his own little way, hoping that the support would help to give the beneficiaries a head start in life.
According to him, “this gesture was just borne out my desire towards promoting learning and empowerment of people to be responsible members of the state and Nigeria in general because education would transform their mind.”
Kabiru Garba stressed the need for public and private partnership including spirited individuals to come to the rescue of vulnerable children whose parents are dead especially those affected by internal crises, which had ravaged the state in the past.

He added that apart from these 20 that “I am now giving the opportunity to acquire knowledge to be useful to themselves and the community, I have almost 50 others to carter for with the meagre resources available”.
Some beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the assistance and thanked Kabiru Garba for the good gesture while praying to Almighty Allah to reward him abundantly.
“We thank God that our children can now go back to school and read so as that they can be ambassadors of the state and Nigeria in general, we appreciate his contributions to education”
