IGR: Kogi Targets N30billion By 2020

The Kogi State Board of Internal Revenue Service has said that it will not relent in boosting the internal revenue generation capacity of the state to over N30billion by the year 2020

The Executive Chairman of the Board, Aliyu Nda Yusuf also said that his agency has raised the IGR  of the state from paltry N300million  by the precious administration to average of N1.2bn on monthly basis saying that the strategy in place  will in no doubt increase  the revenue  of the state above the set target.

He gave the hint on Tuesday in Lokoja during the screening and confirmation of his appointment by the members of state House of Assembly.

He stated that the Service has bridged all the noticeable loopholes and widening taxable items hitherto lying  idle, adding that he will maintain strategic partnership with relevant ministries and agencies to unlock revenue opportunities.

He promised to automate all revenue sources for efficient generation and collection and to create additional support services units to enhance robust revenue generation that will enable them to surpass the anticipatory monthly target of N3billion.

” We are going to bridge and widens our total collection items that were hitherto dormant. We are also going to maintain strategic relationship with Ministries, extra Ministerial Departments and Agencies, while we will automate end to end of all our revenue processing for efficiency  and  effectiveness.

” To this end, we have created Customer Service Unit, Corporate Communications unit, and Efficiency units that will assist in unlocking the potentials inherent in us.” He assured.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Solid Mineral Development Agency Hajia Ozavize Suleiman promised to attract direct foreign investment to the sector for rapid transformation of the state.

She stated this on Tuesday while she was being screened and confirmed as Solid Mineral boss by state lawmakers.

She noted that as an indigene of the state, the 29 solid Mineral deposits in the state will be maximally developed and harnessed to contribute to the Internally Generated Revenue.
