Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, has urged Nigerians to beware of a vaccine being hawked in Kano as treatment for the coronavirus disease, describing it as fake.
Speaking during the daily press update by the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on Coronavirus disease, in Abuja, on Tuesday, he said he has seen the vaccine, and described it, “as yellow in colour”, adding that people should not patronize it, since there is yet to be an approved vaccine for the treatment of coronavirus.”
He appealed to people to follow the approved recommendations on social distancing, hand washing and use of face masks.
He added, “Though NOI polls shows 99 per cent are aware of Covid 19, the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture has continued to reach Nigerians with campaign on the disease. We have made jingles in English, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulfude and Igbo and they are playing on NTA and FRCN, which will spread to private stations and online publications for further advocacy campaign.
He said the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has shown creativity, liaising with NGOS to produce advocacy materials in local languages that have been distributed through the country.
“Also the National Broadcasting Commission, NCB has taken steps make sure adverts on broadcast stations strictly follow the codes on be fairness and balanced reportage COVID-19,” he said.
