
Agboola Ajayi
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has concluded its primary with the emergence of Mr Agboola Ajayi as the candidate of the PDP) of the party for the November 16, 2024 off -cycle governorship election in the state
In the election conducted by the Committee led by Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Ajayi, a former Deputy Governor of the state during the first tenure of late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, polled 264 votes to beat his closest rival, Kolade Akinjo ,a former member of the House of Representatives, who polled 157 votes
Other aspirants that contested the primary are: Mr Adeolu Akinwumi who got 64 votes, Mr Bamidele Akingboye had 24 votes while Mr Bosun Arebuwa had 2 votes, and Mr John Mafo got 9 votes.
All the aspirants hail from the Ondo South Senatorial District, which is the zone that is yet to enjoy the governorship vis- a- vis the North and Central zone.
Flag bearer of the governing All Progressives Congress, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa hails from the same South zone and Ajai will slug it out with him in the coming election.
