Boss Mustapha, SSG and Chairman of PTF On COVID-19
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha has praised the creativity of Nigerians who have responded to the danger posed by the coronavirus disease to health by making ventilators, sanitisers and Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, and explained why the inventions cannot be deployed immediately.
Speaking during the daily press update on Covid-19, Mustapha, who heads the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on the disease, said โNigerian will not be the same again after COVID-19 because of developments, inventions that have been developed by Nigerians but they have to be processed and tested.
โThey have to go to through a certification process. We are faced with a life and death situation and we would not encourage such inventions to be deployed immediately for use without proper certification. There are many are excellent work, that have been done no doubt. They however fall under the Ministry of Science and Technology to handle. Recently, some agencies under the Ministry displayed sanitsers and ventilators they have been produced to show we are not aware of such inventionsโ
Recently, there has been a report on inventions of sanitizers, ventilators, PPE, by students and lecturers from across tertiary institutions in the country, namely, Ilaro Polytechnic, Ogun State; Gombe State; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and Innoson Motors, Nnewi, Anambra state
Speaking further, he said the, PTF, is yet to compile the report that may decide President Buhari to either lift or extend the lockdown
