Rifles and motorcycles captured during the raid and a soldier set part of their hideout on fire
In continuation of clearance operations against bandits and cattle rustlers in parts of Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina states, troops of Operation Katsina and Operation Whirl Punch under Operation Accord on June and 7 intercepted a bandits’ gun-runner and logistics supplier.
Items recovered included 496 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one Bajaj Motorcycle in Mararraba Maigora in Faskari LGA, dane guns, obile phones and motorcycles in Yauyau and Zandam villages, AK 47 rifle at Warnu village where the Daban Jabi camp of a notorious bandit leader known as Dan Jangeru, was destroyed.
During blocking operations against interstate movement of bandits and cattle rustlers, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH under Operation ACCORD on 7 June neutralized 2 bandits, while others fled with gunshot wounds at Tabani and Tashan Bawa border between Sabuwa LGA in Katsina State and Kuyello District in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State Items recovered include one AK 47 rifle and 2 mobile phones.
Scores of armed bandits were also neutralized and their weapons destroyed in air strikes carried out by the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI at 2 separate bandits’ camps, at Tsibiri and Manya, in Zurmi Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State.
According to Coordinator of Defence Media Operations at the defence headquarters, Abuja, Major General John Enenche, “the air interdiction mission at Tsibiri, which is located 15Km East of Zurmi, was executed on the heels of credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicating that the camp, with its clusters of thatched huts nestled close to a group of trees, was being used by the bandits to house their fighters and store their weapons and ammunition.”
