Tragedy In Kogi As Dangote Truck Kill Corper

Tragedy struck in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital over the weekend, following the accidental death of Miss Ebieme Joy,  a youth corper serving in the state who was crushed by Dangote Trailer.

The National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), family in Lokoja was as a result of the sad development thrown into mourning when the news of the death of  its member in Kogi State filtered into the corps’ headquarters.

Late Miss Ebieme Joy with state code KG/19B/0052 was  knocked down by Dangote trailer in Gadumo area of Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital last Thursday.

According to an eye witness, Joy was being conveyed from Gadumo to Lokoja town when she met her untimely death.

The Dangote truck was said to be dodging a pothole when it collided with the motorcycle conveying the late corps member.

The rider of the Okada whose identity was yet to be ascertained, survived the crash, Joy was however not that lucky as she was said to have died on the spot.

The NYSC Public Relations Officer, Rev. Tayo Adedapo who confirmed the incident to Our Correspondent on Saturday, said that efforts are on to reach the family of the deceased corps member whom he said hails from Calabar in Cross Rivers State.

Meanwhile citizens of Lokoja have called on the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), to caution drivers of Dangote trailers and other articulated vehicles passing through Kogi State on their alleged reckless driving.

A middle aged man who spoke with  Our Correspondent on condition of anonymity, particularly noted that the drivers of Dangote trailers are allegedly notorious on the wheels.

An eye witness, Salihu Yusuf said were it not for the recklessness on the part the Dangote driver, the untimely death of the corps member would have been avoided.
