Suspected gunmen stormed the Akpabuyo, Calabar residence of the suspended Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Professor Cyril Ndifon in the wee hours of Thursday and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
The heavily armed men were said to have forced their way into Ndifon’s Akpabuyo residence in the outskirts of Calabar and arrested him from his sleeping bed.
A family source who narrated the encounter to reporters said that ” at about 12:00 — 1:00am this morning we were asleep when heavy knocks hit our door. A voice shouted behind the door that we should open the door else they would blow the door open if we did not open at that moment.
“The people had jumped over the fence to get access to our building because at the time, 12midnight our gate was still under lock.”
“About ten heavily armed men entered, bodies reeking of alcohol and cigarette, pulled down the main entrance door and the door leading to the bedroom.
The police is yet to react to the incidence as the phone lines of the Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo are switched as at press time.
