Governor Babajide-Sanwolu of Lagos State has joined a growing number of cheerleaders for Chef Hilda Baci who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for longest cooking time.
The governor who visited the 27-year old chef with real name Hilda Bassey Effiong at the Amore Gardens, in Lekki, Lagos State, where she set up a four-day, cook-a-thon (named after Marathon) since last Thursday eulogized her energy, skill and entrepreneurship.
Sanwo-Olu wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday: I showed up to support Chef Hilda Baci, in her request to break the Guinness World Record. At GWR of the longest spent time for cooking by an individual.
“Her dedication, passion for cooking as well as her desire to put our rich culture on the map by not only exhibiting our food but also the resilience, determination, energy and team spirit that has come to be known as the spirit of Lagos and indeed Nigeria is truly remarkable.
“We are proud to have Hilda embarking on this journey in our state. I will continue to follow the updates and look forward to the final declaration.”
Baci, who owns a food brand, “My Food by Hilda, took after her mother, also a chef with a food brand called Calabar Pot.
Having been cooking non-stop since Thursday with a 5- minutes break per hour, the already looking exhausted Nigerian chef is expected to end her quest on the evening of Monday, May 15 2023, by which time her time of 96 hours would have broken the current record held by and Indian Chef, Lata Tandom, who set the Guinness World Record for cooking at 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop in 2019.
