Hon Uko Nkole, representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has gone beyond his constituency to enrich the Law Faculty Library of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), with copies of books.
The books include copies of the Nigerian Weekly Law Report (NWLR) covering from January, 2017-February, 2018 and bundles of exercise books branded with picture of the lawmaker worth thousands of Naira.
Speaking while handing over the items to the Dean of the faculty at Umuahia Study Centre, Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Nkole said the gesture was part of his human capital development programme.
“This is also in appreciation of the high academic achievements the faculty has set in the country and inline with Governor Okiezi Ikpeazu’s dream of repositioning the University for excellence,” he said.
Represented by Dr. Don Emeri, special adviser to the governor on Grassroots Mobilisation, he expressed the hope that the University would continue to provide the students with conducive learning environment.
Speaking after receiving the items, the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Sam Erugo thanked Nkole for his love for education which has spurred him to invest in educational development both in and outside his constituency.
“By this act, you have added your quota in helping to mould the academic future of our students.This gesture will remain indelible in the annals of the faculty in particular and the University in general,” he noted.
In another development, Nkole has awarded scholarships up to tertiary level to six winners of the Annual Constituency Quiz Competition for both primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the constituency.
The competition was organised by Hon. Uko Nkole Foundation in collaboration with the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) , in Ebem, the headquarters of Ohafia Local Government Area.
Speaking on the occasion, which attracted many dignitaries and traditional rulers from the area, he emphasised the importance of education as a panacea for success and growth of any nation.
