From Salihu Pirkusu, Maiduguri

The Member representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in Borno State, Hon. Dr. Midala Usman Balami has extended his deep sympathies to the families of 11 people, including four members of Vigilantes that were killed during last Tuesday Boko Haram invasion into Pubagu village of Askira- Uba local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
He also commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the last week deadly Boko Haram attacks in lehu, Mussa Ward of Askira-Uba, Kwajjaffa Harang in Hawul LGA and other villages in his constituency.
Recalled that, some armed terrorists invaded Pubagu on Tuesday 21st April, 2026 and wrecked havoc after killing 11 people with setting ablaze a Church.
Already, the Executive Chairman of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Hon. Mada Saidu, on Wednesday visited Pubagu village in Rumirgo Ward, where he expressed shock over the resurgence of terrorist attacks in his area.
Reacting to the ugly incident, the Federal Lawmaker urged government and security agencies to intensify efforts in protecting lives and property of the citizenry.
He said, apart from the innocent loss of lives in his constituency almost on daily basis, many people were also abducted and remained in Boko Haram captivity without rescue.
“It is very unfortunate that Boko Haram terrorists are wrecking havoc almost on daily basis in my constituency without confrontation. Just yesterday (Tuesday), some armed terrorists invaded Pubagu and killed 11 people including for local vigilantes who paid the supreme price in defence of our people.
“Let me extend my sincere condolences to the families of those killed, and may God Almighty grant Eternal Rest to their Souls, even as I wished the injured ones quick recovery.
“Just last week, some communities in Askira-Uba local government area including Lehu came under deadly attacks and destructions. More than 20 people were also kidnapped along Biu-Buratai Damaturu road, with some people of Hawul LGA were victims.
“I enjoined Government and our Security Operatives who have been doing well in the fight against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists to intensify efforts in order to end the war,”Balami stated.
He then commended Governor Babagana Zulum for strengthening local vigilantes in complementing efforts of the security agencies in the fight against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, even as he called for more deliberate and proactive approach to end the over decade Boko Haram atrocities.
In a related development, unconfirmed reports indicated that some Boko Haram terrorists also attacked Mayolade, a neighboring community in Adamawa State on Tuesday, where nine people were reportedly killed.
