Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has urged the people of the state to vote into office people who work for the interests of the people, during the opening of his campaign for re-election.
Speaking before a crowd of supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the IBB Square in Makurdi, the state capital, he called on the people to think of their security and the social and economic development that his administration has keenly carried out and vote for him again. He also asked the people to vote for the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the presidential election in February 16.
Accompanied by ex-Senate Presidents, David Mark and Professor Iyorchia Ayu as well as former governor Gabriel Suswan, he said the All Progressives Congress has failed to secure the life and property of the people in the state and asked them to vote for his party, which has done so.
“On this platform l would not be compromised. No one would match us as long as we draw support from the Benue people. I ask you to vote to keep Benue in the hand of those who can secure and provide for the Benue people.”
