The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate and incumbent governor of Ondo State, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has cast his vote in his hometown of Ilaje.

Ayedatiwa, who is seeking his first electoral victory following his appointment after the death of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, arrived early at Igbo Ward 4, Obenla Community, Ilaje, to participate in the exercise.

He cast his vote at about 8:55 a.m.

Speaking after voting, Ayedatiwa commended the organisation and efficiency at his polling unit, describing the process as orderly, transparent, and peaceful.

“It’s encouraging to see the exercise going smoothly here. I am hopeful that this is reflective of the experience across the state,” he said.

Similarly, the governorship candidates of the Zenith Labour Party, Dr. Abass Mimiko, and the Social Democratic Party, Bamidele Akingboye, have also cast their votes.

Mimiko voted at Unit 20, Ward 7, Yaba, Ondo West, while Akingboye exercised his franchise at Okitipupa.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has raised allegations of voter inducement against the APC.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the PDP accused an APC agent of distributing money and other items to voters at Ward 8, Unit 5, Iwaro Oka, Akoko South West Local Government Area.

The opposition party called on law enforcement authorities, including the Police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate and address the incident.
