10 out of the participating 17 political in the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, have withdrawn from the governorship race and declared their support for candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
The 10 political parties, are Accord Party, Action Alliance, Action Democratic Party, APGA, and AAC, APM, APP, NNPP, NRM, and SDP.
Making the declaration on Monday in Akure, the state capital, the Chairman of Social Democratic Party, Prince Oladele Ogunbameru, said the decision was made at a meeting held on October 4, 2020 with the party leaders and chieftains of the PDP.
According to the SDP Chairman, the move was borne out of their commitment to good governance in the state, a development the PDP said showed that the party holds the ace in the upcoming poll
“This shows that the PDP will emerge victorious at the poll,” said Fatai Adams, PDP chairman in Ondo State, adding that those trumpeting the ruling APC were unrealistic about the political sophistication of the people of the state, whom he described as politically discerning and the state ” a PDP state.”
