An All Progressive Congress Chieftain, Hon Tigana Yakal has described as self-serving and inciting to Nigerians, the comments credited to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo regarding the poor performance of the Federal Government under President Muhammad Buhari.
Yakal said: “When he became President in 1999, we expected Obasanjo to set up a good democratic foundation that will give Nigerian direction under his leadership but unfortunately the reverse was the case. Obasanjo came on board and encouraged corruption through the use of money in Bagco bags for the lobbying issues that are not supposed to be lobbied for. An example is budget approval and constituency projects for the federal lawmakers. Obasanjo is always looking for where to be a leader and relevant. That is why he making all these anti-government utterance’s because he has no where to go politically since he tore his membership card of the PDP.
“My plea to all Nigerian is we should learnt to respect leaders and pray for our leaders just as our holy books teach us to. I don’t believe Buhari didn’t distance himself from the electorates as widely spread. We should understand governance to be all inclusive with the people and appointed and all elected officers and not Mr President only.
Hon Yakal said that if both the lower and upper chamber on the National Assembly had been in talking terms with the President things would have moved faster and nobody would be talking about the President distancing himself from the grassroots. He stated that “the security challenges bedevilling the country are mostly sponsored by politician and with time their identity shall reveal to the general public.”
