The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chris Isiguzo has commended Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State for living up to expectation in the provision of democracy dividends to the people of the state.
The NUJ President described democracy as all about impacting positively on the lives of the people, affirming that Gov. Yahaya Bello has done well in providing for the well-being of citizens.
Isiguzo gave the commendation while speaking at a Symposium organised by the Kogi state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists held in Lokoja on Thursday to mark Governor Yahaya Bello’s seven years of leadership in the state.
The Symposium with the theme: A peep into Gov. Yahaya Bello ‘s Seven Years in office and implications for future Administrations was put in place by the Kogi State NUJ for other leaders across the country to emulate.
Isiguzo declared that without mincing words, ” In Kogi, you can see a government that is people centered”
The NUJ boss described the newly built Reference Hospital Okene, by Governor Bello’s administration as a world class health Infrastructure in the country which would remain a positive footprint in the years ahead.
Governor Yahaya Bello who also spoke at the event, urged journalists to be alive in their professional callings by making those in leadership positions to be accountable to the people.
The Governor used the forum to appeal to Nigerians to play the game by the rules in electing candidates of their choice during the presidential, national and state assembly polls which he said is around the corner.
He equally called on Nigerians to join hands with INEC in ensuring the conduct of credible, free and fair elections.
He described the All-Progressives Congress APC as a party to beat, urging citizens to vote massively for all the candidates of the party during the elections.
