CP Edward Chuka Egbuka, has assumed duty in Jos as the new Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
Mr. Egbuka who took over from Mr Isaac Akanmoyede state said he would deepen professionalism in the maintenance of law order, particularly in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
He said this during the handover ceremony in Jos, the state capital on Friday
According to him: “Police is in the front line in talking the challenges of corona virus. In our enforcement in tackling the pandemic, I implore officers and men to be polite and firm in dealing with the public.
“With good conduct and professionalism, we shall once again defeat a common enemy seeking to ravage the entire globe”.
According to ASP Ubah Gabriel, the police public relations officer, CP Egbuka was the Commissioner of Police Operations at the Force Headquarters Abuja before he present assignment
Born in Imo State in Southeast Nigeria, Egbuka was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on March 15, 1988 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was trained at the Police Academy Annex, Kaduna State.
He studied at the University of Calabar, Cross River State, where he graduate in History and International Relations before proceeding to the River State University of Science and Technology University of Port Harcourt where he read Law.
He has attended several courses in Nigeria and overseas and has held several positions in the Nigeria Police Force which includes Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations in Osun State Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Zone 7 Headquarters Abuja, Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations Kogi State Command.
He was Area Commander at Ogba Area Command Lagos, Idimu Area Command Lagos, Umuahia Area Command Abia State and Lantang Area Command Plateau State.
He was Assistant Force Secretary at the Force Headquarters Abuja and Divisional Police Officer in several Divisions. Between 1994 -1995, he was at the United Nations as a Civil Police Observer in Rwanda, East Africa. He is a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police.
His hobbies include long distance walking, reading, watching and playing football and listening to good music.
A devoted Christian, he is married to his wife, Eziokwu and they are blessed with four children.
