N/Central Reps Kick As APC Adopts Gbajabiamila As Speaker

By Ayo Kehinde

Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has a political storm in their hands as some members in the House of Representatives from the North Central have throw their hats in the ring to challenge party decision on the adoption of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as its candidate for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly. John Dyeh from Benue state and Mohammed Bago from Niger are spoiling for a fight as the first has declared his intention to contest, barely hours after the party arose from a meeting with President Buhari and concluded the endorsement of Gbajiabiamila.

The Spokesman of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the decision was reached after an intensive deliberation with the APC’s House of Representatives members-elect at a dinner with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Banquet Hall of Aso Villa.

The APC spokesman, who posted this information on APC platform on Tuesday night, also revealed that the position of the Deputy Speaker position has been zoned to the North Central.

While Dyeh has declared his intention, stating that it aligns with interests from the North Central, Bago has warned that the party’s decision was against the interest of the North Central zone. Throwing his support behind the agitation for North Central, another Reps from Niger State, Abdul Wushishi Dejandon says party Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole’s position that party supremacy rules over any other decision in the matter, would be resisted.

He said: “I am a rep elect and nobody should dictate to us. Oshiomole utterances is causing resentment concerning his preferred candidates. We are accomplished men that cannot be dictated like school children. The worst part is his imposition of Tinubu lackey Gbajabiamila as speaker so that Tinubu will control us. I swear to Allah that will never never happen instead we vote SDP candidate as speaker. People should mind their business and leave us alone”

Dejandon represents Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Masheg. State, Niger State in the House of Representatives. Party on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) .
