Oyo State Government has said the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is not collecting any money for transfer of students within public schools but from private schools to public schools.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists after the state Executive Council meeting at the Governor’s Office, Ibadan.
The governor’s spokesman said the government had not deviated from the free educaion programme and some of its policies in the education sector.
Also, the Commissioner for Information,Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun urged the people to continue supporting the Makinde-led administration in its lofty programmes aimed at transforming the state.
Olatunbosun also disclosed that the state government had approved the redeployment of 25 former staff members of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State(BCOS) and 58 former staff members of Board of Internal Revenue Service who were deployed to ministries and agencies by the last administration back to respective agencies.
The affected officers had written petitions and made requests,necessitating the need for the present administration to set up a committee to look into it.
The committee in its report presented at the State Executive meeting which was revealed to journalists by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, said government gave approval for the workers.
The Commissioner added that the government was committed to transforming the station which made him to appoint Prince Dotun Oyelade as Executive Chairman of the Corporation.
