The Speaker of Kogi House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole on Sunday charged leaders across the globe to always live a life of service to humanity for the advancement of the society and to be well judged by posterity.
Kolawole who made the call during his “Victory Thanksgiving and Presentation service” at Christ Apostolic Church, Aiyeteju-Kabba in Kabba-Bunu Local Government of Kogi, said leaders should know they would render account of their stewardship and sojourn on Earth.
“As a child of God, I believe strongly in death and that whatever you do today will be a story for tomorrow and for that reason, I have decided that I will continue to do my best for humanity.
Kolawole who presented a Toyota Avensis (Wagon) to pastor of the church, Emmanuel Benjamin and a Volkswagen Sharon to the Local Government chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said he would continue to appreciate God for his benevolence.
He said that the presentation was in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises and appreciation of God’s benevolence in his life.
Kolawole who is the first representative of the Kabba-Bunu state constituency to be re-elected and a second term speaker of the House said, “My secret is that I praise God a lot. Learn from me, do the will of God and he will do it for you.”
The Speaker who also presented a drum set, microphones and other musical instruments, rendered gospel songs as special numbers with his wife and five children as choir to the glory of God.
The Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi in his remarks urged youths to embrace hard work and strive to be relevant in life rather than indulging in thuggery, vices and crime or depending on somebody.
He also urged youths to emulate the Speaker, who, through dint of hard work, perseverance and grace of God, had been exalted.
He said, “Please don’t allow any cabal to suppress you. Move out and do the best you can to be somebody in life saying that from a a humble beginning as a farmer’s son, God made the Obaro.”
Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Emmanuel Benjamin, Zonal Superintendent of the CAC Oke-Igbala, Aiyeteju Zonal Headquarters, Kabba whose message centred on “Showing a Heart of Gratitude” urged those in positions of leadership to always have the fear of God.
Benjamin who read from Psalms 135: 3-6 and I Kings 3:3 said King Solomon was blessed beyond his expectations because he displayed a high level of gratitude to God and the Almighty added to him, riches, wisdom and understanding that he did not ask for.
“There is a reason why God enthroned you. He put you there to make people know and serve him. Out His first in everything you do, exalt him and show gratitude to him. If the elders know God and fear him, the youths will follow suit and the society would be a better place”, he said.
