Jos Crisis: Seven Journalists Escape Death by the Whiskers

At least no fewer than seven (7) staff of the state own media house, Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTV) with their broadcasting headquarters in Rayfield, Jos on Tuesday night escaped death by a whiskers when a group of Muslims irate youth attacked them .

The staff said that their vehicle came under heavy attack by the miscreants at Dandin-kowa in Jos South local government council of the state. They escaped but their vehicle loaded with newsmen was badly damaged by the miscreants .

Our correspondent reports that the seven Journalist were returning home in a vehicle which was conveying staff on night duty to their respective homes at 10:30pm on Tuesday when they ran into the road block mounted by the hoodlums

One of the Journalist who escaped the sad incident but refused to have his name in print, told our correspondent that their vehicle was also vandalised.

He said; “We thank God , if the attack was successfully executed, our organization would have been burying seven staff of their dedicated staff but thank God we survived by the whisker.

“We ran into a road block which we all thought was manned by the police and vigilantee just to be descended upon by the miscreants who came out from every direction. We had to run for dear life”

Reacting to this development, the Chairman of Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council Paul Jatau condemned the unwarranted assault on the newsmen and called on security operatives to be alert to their duty.
