Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has applauded Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for directing security agencies to beef up security at Isu Community in Arochukwu Area Council
In the same vein, Ohuabunwa commended the governor for responding to the plight of the community with Cross River state with assorted relief materials.
In April last year, Utuma Community in Cross River state attacked the community over boundary dispute, which led to loss of lives and property worth millions of Naira.
This was contained in a statement by the media aide to the former chairman of the Senate committee on Primary Health-Care, Isaac Nkole, which was obtained by Thisage.
“By this gesture, the governor has brought the needed succour and given sense of belonging to the community in particular and the area in general” the statement explained.
The Senator, who represented Abia North senatorial district from 2015-2019 expressed worry that the federal government is yet to come to the aid of the community, it stated.
“This is even as the onetime leader of the South East caucus in the House of Representatives has moved a motion for it on the floor of the Senate,” it noted.
According to the statement, the Onunekwuru Oha has appealed to individuals, business organization, groups, and intervention agencies to assist the community.
“Let us all do this in the spirit of being our brothers keepers. It behoves us as good Nigerians to assist them in one way or the other to overcome their challenges,” it added.
