Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has commiserated with victims of the fire incident at the Umuahia Timber Market, Ndume in Umuahia North local government area.
Ikpeazu stated this in a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Barrister Onyebuchi Ememanka, describing the January 1, 2020 incident as very unfortunate.
“The governor sympathizes with those who lost property during the fire disaster and assured them that his administration stands with them at this difficult moment,” he said.
“He had earlier sent the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. Cosmas Ndukwe to inspect the scene for an on the spot assessment of the situation and to report back to him.”
The CPS said the idea of the visit is also to determine ways through which the administration could, amongst other measures, stop a future occurrence of such incidence even in other places.
He added that Ikpeazu assures the business community in the state of the avowed commitment of the administration to continue to support the growth of business across the state.
