Group Terrorizing Jos North LGA Arraigned in Court

Justice Arum Ashom of Plateau State High NO5 , Jos Division has adjourned hearing in a suit between the Commissioner of Police and a syndicate named Sarasuka in Jos North Local Government Area in the state.

The group has been terrorizing the residents with dangerous weapons.

The four count charge against the six accused militia group a.k.a “Sarasuka” include criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, attempted culpable homicide mischief, by attacking the”Sharon”bus belonging to Neighborhood Watch of Nigeria, Plateau state chapter and inciting public disturbances causing breach of peace at the afore mentioned community.

However, the clerk of the court who read all the four count charges before the six accused persons on criminal conspiracy,culpable of homicide,and mischief said the offense was committed under section 59 subsection (2) of Plateau state penal code law.

Those arraigned included Hamman Bala, Abraham Bukar ,Abdulrahman Abubakar ,Muazu Hassan ,Sadiq Rilwanu ,Rabiu Yunusa ,Usman Adams and Anas Ali, all under four count charges of attempted culpable homicide, using of cutlasses and dangerous weapons to intimidate and attack residents of Congo Mararaba .

The  court which resumed hearing in the case was adjourned to December 4, 2020.

The prosecution counsel, Barr J.D Longden told the court that the case came up for hearing after the last adjourn date and explained that security personnels and one of the suspects by name Usman Adams was supposed to be standing trial along other suspects .

According to him, investigation in the circumstances that led to the arrest of the suspect hence he had to file a motion on notice dated September, 14 2020 seeking the relief of the court to join Usman Adams in the amended, fresh charges .

Meanwhile, the defendants counsel ,A.U.Udoko said they were served with the amended charge only few minutes before the appearance in court.

In a separate interview with the state commander of Neighborhood Watch of Nigeria, Alh Ismaila Shaibu and Aminu Musa, both officers said the militia had been terrorising the Congo Russia residents and Nasarawa axis for quite a while now, attacking the residence of the community with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

Alh. Shaibu said the most recent attack by the group was on the patrol vehicle of the vigilante group and “my men who sustained injuries.

“Surprisingly , some of these boys are artisans. It is not joblessness that made them engage on the Acts.”

Shaibu further lamented “that those boys who has metamorphose into terrorist group , terrorising the community and our children. That is why we want the law take it course.”

He however advice people to ensure they monitor their children /wards to fore stall the situation where our turned a pest in the live of others.
