Governor Ademola Adeleke
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has rejected the verdict of the Osun Election Petition Tribunal which upturned his victory at the July 16, 2022, governorship poll and awarded it to his rival and former Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, on Friday.
In his reaction to the majority decision of the judges, Adeleke faulted the resolution of over-voting in favour of former Governor Oyetola, calling it “an unfair interpretation against the will of majority of voters.”
His Media aide, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said while rejecting the verdict and insisting that he was the duly the elected governor of the state, Adeleke pledged to appeal the ruling and asked the people to remain calm.
Governor Adeleke said: “I call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done. Let our people be reassured that we will do everything possible to retain this widely acclaimed mandate.”
