Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has ordered civil servants to submit results of polling units in their localities during the November 16 governorship polls as part of new measures to test their loyalty and probably justify the retention of their job.
The decision which was taken ten days after the polls at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, November 27, directed Head of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to submit the results to the new Director of Administration of the government.
In an Internal Memo dated November 28, 2019, with No: GO/KGS/ADM1/VOL.1/, titled Submission of Your Stewardship to the New Director of Administration, signed by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade, the affected officers were directed to submit the report with detailed information on Name, Local Government Area, Duration, Ward, Polling Unit Result of Election in Polling Unit and Ward and Remarks, by December 6.
The November 16 governorship poll in Kogi was marred by unprecedented violence, intimidation of journalists, observers and rival political parties, leading to the killing of a women leader of the rival Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by thugs reportedly celebrating election victory of their party.
The Police have apprehended some of the thugs as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
With the recent directive, all seems to be bad for the civil servants in the state, who were owned many months of salaries before and after the election.
