Palpable fears in Odo-Eri in Yagba West and Ette in Olamaboro Local Government Areas of Kogi state over the reported strange illness currently ravaging the people of the communities.
The state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Saka Audu has however, confirmed that no death is recorded in either Odo-Eri or Ette communities as a result of the outbreak.
It was gathered that in Yagba west, those who were affected by the ailment are currently receiving treatment at some nearby private hospitals and ECWA Hospital, Egbe.
The Director, Yagba West Local Government Area, Mr. Reuben Oshagbemi told newsmen that the incident was first reported at a private clinic, saying symptoms of the sickness include: Stooling, diarrhoea and vomiting.
He noted that upon receiving the information, some health workers were mobilized to the settlement to treat the patients, pointing out that the situation is now under control.
Oshagbemi explained that the Ministry of Health has been contacted, noting that the State Epidemiologist will determine the illness.
He advised the people to continue to observe personal hygiene to avoid any outbreak of diseases.
However, when our correspondent contacted the Kogi state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Saka Audu on the development, he said his team of medical personnel will be visiting the affected communities on Monday to find out situation of things.
He added that the State Epidemiologist will determine the illness.
He also confirmed that his team of medical personnel just came back from Ette in Olamaboro local government council to ascertain the reality of the strange illness at a border town of Enugu state with Kogi state and expressed delight that the strange illness is yet to cross over from Enugu state to Kogi.
