Father of Rape Victim Denies Withdrawing Suit Against Suspect

From Yakubu Busari, Jos

Father of a rape victim has denied media reports that he has withdrawn the suit he filed against a security guard who allegedly raped and molested his four- year old- daughter in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Father of the victim, Mr Amos Jock, told our correspondent in Jos that he did not withdraw the suit he filed in court as was reported by a section of the media.

He said his intention to invite a superior officer to the alleged suspect to wade into the matter was misinterpreted. The suspect, Dauda is a security staff in the Jos North Local Government and reports to an Assistant Director of Works, who was immediately alerted when the incident took place.

Father of the victim, Mr Jock is Direct of Finance Services in the LGC.

According to Jock; “ I invited a Police Officer to the LGC residential quarters where my daughter was molested by Mr Dauda, a security guard. I never demanded for the the withdrawal of the matter but merely requested the official in charge of the affected security officer to intervene so that the quarters will not be left unprotected in the event of the arrest of the accused.”

The DFS insisted he meant well by calling on the official of the relevant department to be aware of the goings on at the LGC quarters. He insisted that his kind gesture was misinterpreted.

He stated that as a director who is resident within the LGC quarters, his decided to report the matter to appropriate authorities to ensure that the security of other residents were not compromised by the absence of the culprit at his duty post after he was arrested by the police.

The DFS further hinted that the matter is under investigation by the police, while he would continue with the suit he has filed in the law court.
