Ex-LG Chairman Canvasses Respect for Leaders On Social Media

Former Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo has criticized in strong terms lack of respect for leaders on Social Media

He also caution against running down of those in leadership positions saying that people should rather encourage them by offering useful advice on the way Forward.

The former Local Government Chairman also pleaded with the people of Kogi West Senatorial District to be patient and engage more with their Representatives and leaders, rather than embarking on social media condemnation.

Taiwo at a Press Conference held in Lokoja, expressed confidence that Senator Sunday Karimi, Member Representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly is doing his best to ensure that the district enjoys democracy dividends.

He noted that with the template already in place, for which the Senator is carefully implementing will end well and solicited constituents support for him to succeed.

He disclosed that he is aware that the Senator Karimi facilitated the Iluhagba-Egbe federal road palliative repairs, with ₦500 million budgeted for 2024 to complete the project.

He commended him for initiating a ₦2 billion project to improve educational infrastructure in Kogi Local Government.

” His distributing of two tranches of palliative of a trailer load of rice to each local government area and Semovita across the districts is commendable”.

” I’m aware that he has provided support to victims of natural disasters, including in Lokoja, Kogi, and Yagba”.

He lauded him for initiating a student scholarship program, that will benefit at least 4,000 students with ₦100,000 each for a period of four years as well as facilitating employment opportunities for youths in Police Academy (POLAC), police recruitment, army, FERMA, and other federal agencies”.

” I’m also aware he is supporting in ensuring the construction of a military mini-barracks at the Kogi-Kwara boundary, enhancing security in the region”, said these achievements demonstrates clearly that Senator Karimi’s has in the last one year not neglected his constituents in terms of welfare said his style may not be laudable and known to many, urged the Senator to make measures to address the issues of accessibility and making the people know all that he is doing.

” Sen. Karimi is doing well, he has been attending to issues, working hard to better Kogi West. Let’s pray cooperate and pray for him”.

He said the Senator has been accessible, however urged the people to discard personal interests in making their opinion known.

Hon. Nathaniel expressed gratitude to former Governor Yahaya Bello for the location of Kogi State University at Kabba.

He said no one leader can meet all the challenges of the people and governance, said former Gov Yahaya Bello has done his part and should be commended rather than condemnation.

Hon. Nathaniel equally thanked Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo for doing so well since assumption of office, praised him for prompt payment of salaries, fighting insecurity, commended him for building on what former Gov. Bello has done.

” Gov. Ododo is doing well in education sector. His regular and prompt payment of salaries remains commendable. We must commend the government for the swift rescue of students of CUSTECH.

Governance and leadership is not rocket science. Let’s support the present administration in the State”.

He appreciated Gov. Ododo for bringing calmness to the State, assured that the administration is on the right path of development.

Similarly, Hon. Nathaniel called for patience for the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu said it may be rough now, says it will soon be better for the citizens and country in general.
