The Urhobo Democratic Renaissance Group (UDRG) has commended the Delta Central Political Elders and Leaders of Thought (DCPELT) of the Peoples Democratic Party for their rejection of the DC-23 report on pruning of Delta Central PDP 2023 governorship aspirants.

The UDRG alleged that the Political pressure group was financially induced to pick ‘undeserving and questionable characters’ at the expense of the “best of the lot” on the Party in a bid to satisfy their selfish interest.

The group in a statement signed by the State Co-ordinator, Chief Emuobo Ojefia, and Secretary, Prince Tony Onokpasa, urged Chief David Edevwie, and other aspirants from the Urhobo extraction vying for the governorship of Delta State to withdraw from the race in strict adherence to the general interest of the Urhobo Nation.

The statement further appealed to the aspirants to support the ambition of Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, as his good work, experience and political antecedent has made him the preferred choice of the people as the next governor of Delta State.

The statement reads, “We want to use this medium to appeal, as well as urge Chief David Edevwie, and other aspirants from the Urhobo extraction contesting for the Governorship of Delta State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to withdraw from the race and support the ambition of Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo of becoming the next Governor of Delta State. Be rest assured that Sen. Aguariavwodo will provide quality leadership direction, and Deltans will experience a very great and positive turn around in the political space, among the comity of States.

“We should not allow ourselves as a people to be misled by the inordinate ambition of a select few, as power belongs and resides in the people”, it noted.

The Urhobo Democratic Renaissance Group (UDRG) further joined well meaning Deltans to distance itself from the undemocratic activities of the controversial Pressure Group, DC-23 and appealed to the National and State Party leadership to jealously guide and protect the candidature of Senator Aguariavwodo in line with zoning formula of the Ruling PDP in Delta State, as he remains the right choice for sustainability of the enviable legacies of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the founding fathers of the State.
