‘Dead Fishes on Niger Delta Sea Coast Caused By Industrial Waste’

The cause of the dead fishes that washed up the coastal regions of Bayelsa and River state recently has been traced to industrial waste that found their way into the nearby ocean.

Making this disclosure on Thursday, Mr Idris Musa of the Nigeria Institute of for Oceanography and Marine Studies, said the results of samples from sediments and water in the area shows that polyethylene and hydrocarbon were within the normal rate but the zinc from galvanized pipes could have found their ways into the ocean and do the damage.
