Former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Ishaku Dairu of Taraba State and the All Progressives Congress, APC have congratulated the Christian community in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebrations.
The Former Vice President, Abubakar, urged Nigerians to allow Love and Hope be their guiding principle as they mark the festivities.
He said that Nigerians, notably the Christian community, should be thankful to God that the Christmas festivities, heralding the birth of Jesus Christ, have come again.
The Waziri Adamawa said Love is the conqueror of all things, including the challenges and tribulations that befell many people during the year and that having come thus far to celebrate Christmas, HOPE should remain the watchword of the faithful that the future would be better.
He says that Christians should celebrate with all their heart and extend their joy to all their neighbours including their fellow countrymen.
He says that going by all that happened in the course of the year, it is only Love, Hope and expectations of a better future that can hold Nigeria and all mankind together.
Also, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has felicitated with Christians in Taraba State and Nigeria who are celebrating the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ, the saviour of mankind.
In a statement by Mr Bala Dan Abu, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Ishaku praised the people of Taraba State and, in particular, security agencies deployed to the state for working very hard to achieve peace that is currently prevailing in the state and which has made this year’s Christmas celebration very remarkable.
He reminded Christians throughout the state to always remember the reason for the birth of Jesus Christ, which is the remission of our sins.
He urged them to always emulate Christ by being tolerant and forgiving so that they can live peacefully with their neighbours.
Ishaku expressed the hope that the food, drinks and other forms of gifts that we exchange on this unique occasion of the birth of Christ will reinforce peace, unity and trust among the people in the state. He wants the people to support government’s efforts in building bridges of understanding across the various divides that still hinder unity among our people today.
He also advised them to show moderation as they make merry and to remember to pray for unity and against insecurity and all other vices that hinder peace and development in Taraba State and in Nigeria.
