The Kogi State Government is partnering the Central Bank of Nigeria on empowerment of women and youths in the state through agriculture.
The Special Adviser on Agriculture to Governor Yahaya Bello, David Apeh disclosed this on Saturday when he led the state delegation to Ojakpata in Ankpa LGA to monitor the progress of work at the ongoing cassava plantation in the area.
The Special Adviser who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Agriculture, Emmanuel Idenyi said that Ojakpata is one of the areas chosen for the cassava production in the state.
He hinted that 100 hectares of land would be earmarked for 100 farmers, each farmer for 1 hectre saying that Ojakpata has the highest production of cassava in the state.
The Permanent Secretary said the state government in its quest to make Kogi State an agricultural hub of the nation in cassava production is patnering with the Central Bank of Nigeria to empower women and youths in the state through agriculture.
Speaking further, the permanent Secretary said the only sector that can empower the populace is agriculture.
He said job creation is one of the cardinal point of the administration under the able leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello and encourages the people to key into it.
He assured the people that every abandoned project in the past would be completed by this administration emphasizing the need for the people to live in peace with each other.
Responding, a community leader Achimi Umaru appreciated the state governor for considering them worthy of the gesture and promised their unalloyed support to APC let government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
