President Muhammadu Buhari has wielded the big stick as leader of the All Progressives Party, APC, by dissolving the National Working Committee of the party to halt the leadership crisis it had been plunged into since the Appeal Court upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman on June 15.
Buhari who handed down the marching order while delivering an address at the meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, said the need to restore order in the activities of the party was high on the agenda to make the party work for the good of its member.
He said the, “meeting was called to pass resolution on issues confronting the party,” must uphold the following directives: “approve immediate withdrawal of all litigations pending in courts; party primary conducted in Edo ratified; the National Working Committee, NCW of the party dissolved; appointment of a caretaker committee extra-ordinary to prepare convention of the party where fresh officials would be elected.”
Dire consequences await anyone who violated the directives, he said.
Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni would chair the caretaker committee before the national convention is held to elect new officials to run the affairs of the party.
Vice -President Yemi Osinbajo, fifteen state governors, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajiagbamila and President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the police has sealed the party’s secretariat in Abuja and dispersed all the workers there.
