Ahead of the inauguration of President Joe Biden and his Vice- President, Kamal Harris on Wednesday, January 20, 2020, the Presidential Inauguration Committee has released a 46-song playlist in honour of the new administration.
Already, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Kerry Washington have been scheduled to perform live at the ceremony, with Gaga taking the national anthem, ‘The star- spangled banner.’
In the 46-tract playlist for the day are the legendary Bob Marley and the Wailers; Nigeria’s international star; Burna Boy; Soul and Blues master, Marvin Gay; 20- Grammy Awards winner, Bruce Springsteen and Bill Withers. Others are Jill Scot, Kendrick Lamar and Dua Lapa.
The picked songs are Bill Withers, (‘Lovely Day’), Marvin Gaye (‘Got to Give It Up – Pt. 1’), Bruce Springsteen (‘We Take Care of Our Own’), Kendrick Lamar (‘Now or Never’), Bob Marley & The Wailers (‘Could You Be Loved’), Jill Scott (‘Golden’) and Dua Lipa (‘Levitating’), Others are Kygo “Higher Love” remix, Hall & Oates’s “You Make My Dreams (Come True).” Songs by Curtis Mayfield, and the Doobie Brothers, among others
The chief executive of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, Tony Allen, said, “Today we are excited to share President-elect Biden’s and Vice-President-elect Harris’ official inaugural playlist with the nation. These songs and artists reflect the relentless spirit and rich diversity of America. They are the score to a new chapter and will help bring people together as the Biden-Harris Administration begins its important work to unite our country.”
He said the playlist features American artists across genres, including tracks previously featured at the Biden Victory Drone Show
