Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has expressed shock and sadness over the death of the wife of the Speaker of Kogi Assembly, Mrs Esther Kolawole.
The Governor in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Mohammed, said he was devastated by the news, describing it as trying and tough moment for the state.
He described the deceased as virtuous and God-fearing woman who stood firmly behind her husband at all times in the course of their marital journey until she was called home.
The Governor said that late Mrs Esther Kolawole has left a great vaccum difficult to be filled and would be seriously missed.
According to the Governor, the state government will rally round Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole and family at this trying moment.
Recalled that Late Mrs. Esther died during a brief illness at a Lagos hospital, on Sunday. She was 50.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Femi Olugbemi, in Lokoja, on Sunday.
It read in part, “With heavy hearts, we announce the death of the beloved wife of Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Mrs. Esther Kolawole, whose death occurred this morning in Lagos Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 50 years old.
“She is survived by her husband, children, siblings and aged mother. The burial arrangements will be announced later.”
