Commander-General (CG), Abia State Vigilance Group, Martins Mba has solicited the recognition of the Nigeria Police for the group as a sister security agency in the fight against crime and criminal activities.
Mba made the call after receiving an award of honour from the Nigeria Big and Beauty Pageant Group (NGO), at the headquarters of the group in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He said the group, which has the backing of the state House of Assembly had been partnering the police and other security agencies in the state in maintaining law and order.
“The group has recorded numerous achievements such as arrests of suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, child-traffickers, and cultists among others and handed them over to the police,” he said.
He commended both the state government for maintaining the group and the NGO for the honour, adding that he was poised to ensure peace and security of lives and property in the state.
According to the CG, “Let me end this speech by acknowledging the Nigeria Big and Beauty Pageant for finding me fit for the award. I say thanks to you all and God bless you.”
Handing over the award to the CG, the Chairman of the board of directors of the NGO, Dr. Temple Nwosu commended him for the numerous achievements he has recorded in office.
According to him, Mba had been chosen as the overall best among heads of other similar groups in both the South East and South South geopolitical zones of the country.
Congratulating him for the award, Mr. Newton Kalu Nnachi of Kasco G. Events, said they had followed with keen interest the numerous achievements of the group under his leadership.
