
Former Director- General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Mr Patrick Akpobolokemi who had been standing trail for allegedly looting N2.6 billion of the agency has been discharged and acquitted by the Appeal Court in Lagos. The court dismissed an earlier judgement of the High Court which ruled that he had a case to answer
Justice Yargatta Nimpar, who led a three-man appellate court panel on Friday upheld the no-case submission filed by Akpolokemi in response to the criminal charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC
The Appeal Court overruled the decision of Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos, who, on October 16, 2017, dismissed Akpobolokemi’s no-case submission.
