APC’s Elegbeji Wins Remo Federal Constituency By-election

 

 

 

Princess Adesola Elegbeji of the All Progressives Congress has emerged winner of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday in Ogun State.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Kazeem Bello, who announced the results at the Independent National Electoral Commission collation centre in Abeokuta, declared Elegbeji victorious after she polled a total of 41,237 votes to defeat her closest rival, Bolarinwa Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 14,324 votes.

According to the official breakdown, the APC recorded 10,227 votes in Ikenne Local Government Area against the PDP’s 5,595 votes. In Sagamu LGA, APC polled 22,958 votes while the PDP garnered 7,737.

In Remo North, the APC scored 8,052 votes, PDP 992 votes, while the African Democratic Congress and the Action Democratic Party polled 37 and 43 votes respectively.

Declaring the APC candidate winner, Bello said Elegbeji met all the requirements of the Electoral Act, having scored the highest number of lawful votes in the election.
