APC Promises to Involve Women In Good Governance

The All Progressives Congress in Plateau State has said it remains committed to ensuring that women are carried along in governance across the state.

Rising from its State Working Committee (SWC) meeting in Jos, yesterday, the party said it has endorsed the inclusion of women to play critical developmental roles starting from across the 17 LGAs.

A statement issued by State Chairman of the APC, Letep Dabang said the State Working Committee has resolved that in other to ensure gender parity, women must be considered for appointments into the recently elected Local Government administrations in the state.

According to Letep Dabang, it was resolved that not less than two women must be appointed as Supervisory Councilors and Special Advisers in each of the Local Governments across the state.

He said the women for their patience and care as mothers will greatly influence governance at the grassroots positively if involved in governance.

It also states that to drive down and ensure this position is adhered to, the State working Committee will meet with the newly elected Local Government Chairmen next week to ensure this new directive as well as other means of driving down the policies and programs of the APC at the grass roots, are followed.
