As he prepares to declare his governorship ambition Saturday, while still remaining as Deputy National Chairman South, the national leadership of APC have called Engr. Segun Oni to inform him that he has to resign his position before the declaration tomorrow.
The party gave three reasons for the planned action. Firstly is that Engr. Segun Oni cannot be a judge in his own case. Secondly is precedence, namely that his colleague in Anambra State, the National Auditor who is contesting election in the southeast state didn’t wait for the National leadership to call on him to resign before he did. Thirdly, that the rule is applicable to all National Officers of the party that is interested in contesting for the governorship ticket of their states.
Attempts to reach Oni for comments were unsuccessful as he was said by aides to be unavailable.
