The Federal Government has dismissed as fake a list of ambassadorial nominees currently circulating on social media platforms, urging Nigerians to disregard it.

The Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, on Monday, said the government clarified that the appointment of ambassadors remains the exclusive prerogative of President Bola Tinubu and no such appointments have been made.

He said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to inform the general public to please ignore the fake list of ambassadorial nominees circulating on some social media platforms.

“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that the appointment of Ambassadors is the prerogative of Mr President, and no such appointments have been made in that regard. The purported list should, therefore, be discountenanced.”

THISAGE recalls that Tinubu, in September 2023, recalled all Nigerian career and non-career diplomats serving abroad.

The move, according to the presidency, was aimed at reassessing and realigning Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.

By October 31, 2023, all 83 recalled ambassadors had returned to Nigeria, marking a significant shift in the nation’s diplomatic strategy.
