Sir Ugwu
A chairmanship aspirant for Umunneochi council has urged Abia State governor-elect, Alex Otti to appreciate the governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for approving the conduct of a third council poll in the state within his tenure in office.
Sir V. C.Ngwu of the Peoples Democratic Party stated this when leaders of the party in the council accompanied him to its state secretariat in Umuahia, the state capital to submit his nomination form for the election.
He said it will be in the overall interest of the people of the state and democracy for the Labour Party governor-elect to throw his weight behind Ikpeazu for the approval rather than attacking it.
“I, therefore urge the incoming governor, Alex Otti, to appreciate Ikpeazu for having the courage to approve the conduct of the forthcoming May 19 council poll, ” Ngwu further said.
According to him, although both of them belong to different political party, the moves by Ikpeazu will go along way to further deepen democracy in the state at the council level.
The council seat aspirant, who expressed confident in clinching the ticket, added that if elected he would deliver his campaign promises to move the council to a new level.
