Gridlock along Aba-Owerri Road will end soon after work begins on the Okpu Umuobo – Mgboko Road which will be a bypass to Umuikaa Junction along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu stated this while addressing communities along the Umuikaa-Umuene-Obikabia Road during an inspection visits of road projects along the road.
Ikpeazu maintained that the importance of the Umuikaa-Umuene-Obikabia road as an alternative route for residents along the Aba and Obingwa axis cannot be over emphasized.
According to the governor, the project stretches from Obikabia Junction in Obingwa council area to Obikabia in Isiala Ngwa North council area, saying the job is the first phase of it.
He used the forum to assure the people of the area of his administration’s seriousness to complete the project in particularly and many more during the coming dry season.
Ikpeazu announced that rehabilitation and upgrade of the dilapidated Umuhie Health Centre will commence by November and pleaded with the people to be patient with his administration.
Receiving him at the communities, the people who spoke through their leaders, thanked him for the ongoing rehabilitation of the roads which they said have been in bad shapes for decades.
