The Executive Chairman, Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, (PSIRS) ,Mr Dashe Arlat has disclosed that the service is planning to improve on the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, through aggressive revenue drive to meet set target on the provision of social amenities and facilities for the citizens of the state.
Arlat made this disclosure while briefing journalists at the state Internal Revenue service on Wednesday to usher in the 2018 fiscal year .
He promised to block all revenue leakages in the state and called on tax payers to pay responsibly to enable the government achieve goals in the budget .
The Chairman maintained that ,”the performance by government of its core responsibility to serve and advance the welfare and well-being of citizens is usually dependent on the quantum of available resources. The sources are harnessed through a combination of methods.
” We shall pursue and upscale thorough monitoring of and demand and ensure strict compliance by all MDAs in Plateau state, to the government approved automation process of assessment, involving, collection /payment and receipting these government approved processes are aimed to check, identify and eliminate wastage, leakages and omissions that lead to loss of revenue across board”, he explained.
He said the service would intensify sensitisation campaign across the 17 local government areas in a determined effort to cover the entire state so as to educate and mobilise taxpayers on tax matters.
Arlat cautioned that the management and staff of PSIRS have designed, taken ownership of the idea with resolute implementation in 2018 and beyond. According to him, the plan comprises 7 key result areas and 18 action plans drawn from useful performance templates.
