The Chairman of Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Plateau state chapter, Muhammad Nuru Abdullah has alerted the public to a security breach in Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas in the state, where, according to him, 350 cows and 60 sheep belonging to members of his association have been rustled by suspected youths from the two local governments.
In statement made available to this medium, Adbdullah said the theft was committed on Monday and warned the perpetrators of the crime to return the cows and sheep for peace to reign.
Abdullah said, “We are very sad with the information reaching us from our branches offices in Bassa and Riyom LGAs that the cow and sheep were rustled and a year old boy was beaten to coma. After beating him, the youths from Irigwe rustled I50 cows. The Irigwe youth militias armed with sophisticated fire arms on Monday January 15, 2018 from Bassa LGA, at about 12 hours, attacked Fulani cattle rearers around Gidan Ado village in Ganawuri districts of Riyom LGA.
However, security information from the headquarters of Operation Save Heaven (Oph), just before going to press, reveals that some of the cows have been recovered, but are yet to be handed over to their owners. Abdullah confirmed the information but alleged that some of the cows have died.
“Yes, reports from the security agents reveal that some of the cows were found dead on the way around Mai Yanga village.
“We condemn in totality the act of criminal conspiracy with some highly place political personalities, that are benefiting from this cycle of violence. This cycle of violence should be handled with all seriousness and with professional methods to resolved the dastardly act of brutality,” he lamented
